This project consists of the development of a nutritional genetic test based on the elderly in order to commercialize personalized diets.

In today´s market there are several nutritional genetic test that evaluate the interactions between diet-disease or diet-drug response based on genetic variants that presents each individual. so far, tests marketed give widespread patters, since they are not focused on specific population groups pathophysiologically wel defined with their own requirements.

One of the main problems of the elderly is that the increase in life expectancy is not always associated with a good quality of life. It is estimated that 50% of those over 65 will suffer from somo chronic disease such as loss of muscle mass, decreased mobility, decreased bone density, delayed ingestion, lower vitamin absorption,...

The prevention of the cited diseases is often based on the adherence to generic diets or the consumption of food supplements. However, these procedures do not consider the individual genetic background and are usually prescribed once the disease has been diagnosed. Interestingly, most of these diseases common in the elderly have a high and proven genetic load. In this sense, there are biomarkers that indicate the predisposition to diseases before symptoms arise and the choice of the most suitable food supplement. Thus a saving is achieved in time to the search for better treatment and a reduction in public health costs arising.

In this project, we are developing a series of nutritional recommendations for elderly people based on genetics to partially reduce the problems associated with aged.
