This project aims to develop and validate a biomarker analysis system that allows to customize the treatment in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The project falls in the fields of personalized medicine and "Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases" as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease, spondylitis and systemic lupus erythematosus
The usual clinical practice in the treatment of these diseases is the early administration of exogenous or endogenous Response Modifier Therapy. Although beneficial effects have been obtained with both treatments, their monitoring is necessary because of its many side effects. It is therefore essential to have tools that reveal the patient evolution prior to treatment allocation. The development of prognosis tests that are based on easily detectable biomarkers is an obvious need in today rheumatology.
In meeting this clinical needs, this project develops an objective tool that rheumatologists and professionals from other specialities serve to assign treatment to newly diagnosed patients. The main objective of this activity is to identify and validate predictive biomarkers of severity in inflammatory/autoimmune diseases to implement a prototype service based on a predictive index of gravity to personalize, facilitate and improve clinical practice conditions.
